Atalanta vs. Manchester United score: Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace once again saves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Atalanta BC were tw’ice pegged back by Cristiano Ron’aldo as Manchester United dr”ew 2-2 at Gewiss Stadium to remain top of UEFA Champ’ions Lea’gue Group F on Tuesday.

The Italian hosts took the lead through Josip Ilici”c after he was teed up by Duv’an Zapata on 12 minutes only’ for Ronaldo to level on the stro’ke of half-time when he combined wonde’rfully with fellow Portuguese Bru’no Fernandes.

Into the secon’d half and Atalanta went in fro’nt again on 56 minutes with Zapata on targ’et after lengthy VAR deliberati’on, but Ronaldo once again ‘stepped up to save his team and mana’ger Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a superb late strike.

The Norwegian ” have been under serious pressure ‘if United had lost in Bergamo, but’ once again was bailed out by 1 of his star men.

Some takeaways.

It might have worked for Sol’skjaer and United this time, but their reliance on Rona’ldo ha’s not always paid off” and will not get them out of jai’l forever. Although both goals were wonderful, there has not been enough of the sort of combination play we saw with Fernandes on the 1st and the second was purely insti’nct.Craving even more cove’rage of the world’s game? Anemic Atalanta

Once again, the Italia’ns led Un’ited only to be pegg’ed b’ack and ultimately hel’d. Alth’ough it was not quite on the sam’e scale as at Old Trafford whe’re the home side won, it was still ‘bitterly disappoin’ting gi’ven that they were largely good val’ue for twice leading. La Dea mu’st improve this if they are to adv’ance at Villarreal CF or Young Boys’ ex’pense.

Yet again, the Unit’ed b’oss was spared having to und’ergo the closer scrutiny that a w’orse result would have land’ed him under. That’s desp’ite the fa’ct that this result was than’ks to two goals which were not really born out of any game plan put int’o place by the Norwegian. R’onaldo and Fernandes’ brilli”ance did it once while the main ma’n was at it twice to once again pap’er over Solskjaer’s shortc’omings until the next time it fall’s flat.

Another impres’sive perfo’rmance from the Colom’bia international as he scored one an’d laid on another. There are not too m’any attackers of the same p’rofile as the 30-year-old in Europe at present and it cannot be too long bef’ore a suitor comes in to try’ to p’ersuade La Dea to sell one of their pri’zed assets as he continues to impress despite results not always goi’ng for Atalanta.
