Former Man City star slams Cristiano Ronaldo for ‘coward’s challenge’ for Man United

Former Manchester City w’inger Trevor Sinclair has hit out at Cristiano Ronal’do for his late tackle on Ke’vin de Bruyne.

Trevor Sinc’lair clai’med that Cristiano Ron’aldo made a ‘coward’s chall’enge’ during Manchester Uni’ted’s 2-0 defeat to Manches’ter City.

The Portuguese forw’ard was on the periphery of the game at Old Trafford as United slu’mped to yet another home def’eat on Saturday afternoon.

City were in fro’nt inside 10 minutes courtesy of an Eric Bailly own go’al, and Bernando Silva extended th’eir lead in first half stoppage time.

Ronaldo’s frustra’tion at his lack of influence on the ga’me seemed to boil over late on in the contest, when he laun’ched a late tackle on City midfie’lder Kevin de Bruyne and was yellow carded.

That’s a cheap 1,’ form’er City star Sinclair told talkSPORT.

“The challenge init’ially went in from Fernan”des, and as he’s down on the flo’or ‘after being fouled, Ronaldo launc’hes into that.

“I know it’s only 1 foot, but he’s jumped in with his studs showing. I thought it was a lit’tle bit naughty.

It’s a little bit of frus’tration, but it’s not OK. I hope De Br’uyne is OK because it’s a really po’or challenge.

It’s a coward’s challe’nge. He’s got away with a cou’ple, the one with [Liverpool’s] Cu’rtis Jones as well. He’s got a tem’per because he’s a winner. He doe’sn’t like losing.”

United showed gre’at spirit and determina’tion to bounce back from their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, with an impres’sive 3-0 win at Tottenham last Sat’urday.

However, they app’ear to be back where they start’ed after yet another damag’ing home defeat. The loss leaves United fifth in the table, six points ad’rift of Pep Guardiola’s side an’d three behind fourth placed West’ Ham who have a game in ha’nd.
