Four things spotted in Manchester United training as Cristiano Ronaldo sports a new look
Manchester United’s playe’rs put the finishing touc’hes to their preparations for Tues’day’s clash with Atalant’a at Carrin’gton on Monday.
Manchester Uni’ted will be looking to build on Saturday’s morale-boosting 3-0 win ‘ Tottenham Hotspur wh”en the’y lock horns with Atalanta in’ the UEFA Champi’ons Lea’gue on Tuesday evening.
United, who prov’ided the ideal response agai’nst Spurs following their 5-0 hammer’ing at the hands of Liver’pool ju’st under a week earlier, will t’ravel to the Gewiss Stadium looking ‘to record a third successive Champions League win.
A win for the Red’s in Italy would move them onto ni’ne points in Group H, and a furthe’r step nearer booki’ng the’ir place in the last 16.
With United’s confid’ence having been han’ded a tim’ely boost, thanks to that vict’ory in north London on Saturday evening, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping his play’ers maintain the same level of sta’ndards, although Atalanta, as prove’n at Old Trafford less than a fort’night ago, will offer a ste’rn test.
With another huge fixt’ure looming large, Unit’ed’s players were spotted putt’ing the hard yards in at their Carr’ington training base on Mon’day. Below, MEN Sport has pick’ed out four things we spot’ted from the session.
Pogba all smiles
Having sat out the first game of his three-match ban against Tottenham, Paul Pogba will be pushing for a retur’n to the starting line-up against Atala’nta.
The Frenchm’an was sent off against Liverpo’ol and will miss three dome’stic ‘matches as a result, mea’ning he is free to return on Tuesday evening and compete in European action.
Whether he will sta’rt or not, however, rema’ins to be seen. But the central mid’fielder, who didn’t start the meeting w’ith Atalanta at Old Trafford, see’med happy enough in train’ing on Monday, donning a hug’e smile on his face, as he grinn’ed from ear to ear.
Novem’ber is here, as is the customa’ry weather.
Much of Engla’nd has been battered with ‘rain and strong winds in the last ’48 hours or so and it was no diffe’rent at Carrington on Mond’ay, so much so that Cristiano Rona’ldo, who was United’s hero aga’inst Atalanta less than two weeks ag’o, felt the need to sport a woolly ha’t in training.
The Portugu’ese star, who has been used to train’ing in warm weather for the last few yea’rs abroad, was not the only 1 sporting a hat as several other memb’ers of the squad doing the same. Style icon.
Ronaldo has score’d in all three of United’s Champ’ions League matches this seas”on and will be hoping to conti’nue that run in Italy.
