Portugal will be making their eight’h appearance in the upcoming World C’up in Qatar and coach Fernando Santos w’ill hope that his golden generation can live ‘up to the expectations.

They are yet to lift the coveted prize a’nd their best result was a third-place f’inish in 1966.

Could this be the time that Cristia’no Ronaldo & co. finally get their hands’ on the trophy after securing qualification’ through the playoffs?

They have been drawn in Group H ‘along with Uruguay, Ghana, and South Ko’rea. Not an easy group to be placed in, but g’iven the resources in their tank they are like’ly to progress to the knockouts, barrin’g a major upset.

Which 26 players would you pick fr’om the candidates below to make the trip’ to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar?

Goalkeeping should be a concern fo’r Santos in Qatar. Although there are plent’y of options to choose from, none can’ be counted as amongst the best in the ‘world.

Veteran keeper Rui Patricio has trad’itionally been the number on’e choice but he is prone to errors.

Porto’s Diogo Costa is a young keepe’r and is known to be sure-footed between t’he sticks, but lacks the experience of playing’ on the biggest stages.

Wolves’ Jose Sa is likely to be the th’ird choice for Santos, but is yet to ma’ke his senior national team deb’ut.

The other alternatives in Tiago Ru’i Silva, Antony Lopes, and Claudio Ramo’s are handy options but feature in the lo’wer rungs of the pecking ord’er.
