PSG’s Lionel Messi again out with injury, doubtful for Man City clash

Lionel Messi has b’een rul’ed out of Paris Saint-Germain‘s match against Montpellier on Satu’rday as he has not fu’lly recov’ered from a bone bruise, the Ligue 1 club said on Friday.

 

Messi suffered a kno’ck on his left knee, and an MRI scan ear’lier this week confir’med sig’ns of a bone contusion. He missed PS’G’s 2-1 victory at Metz on Wedne’sday.

The Argentina forw’ard, wh’o joined the Fren’ch club from Barcelona on a 2-year cont’ract in August, will be assesse’d again on Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League hom’e gam”e against Manchester City.

“Leo has started runn’ing today,” PSG coach Mauri’cio Poch’ettino said at a news confere’nce on Friday. “On Sunda’y we will be able to give an update. We hope everyth”ing will go well and that he will be available again [for the game vs. Man City].”

PSG added that midfie’lder Marco Verratti will retu’rn to training on Sunday, while defen’der Sergio Ramos, who has yet to make his club debut, contin’ues to train individually as he reco’vers from a calf injury.

The club are top of the Ligue 1 standings with a perfe’ct win record from seven gam’es.
