Ronaldo leaves Antonio Rudiger “very nervous” with phone call after Real Madrid transfer

Antonio Rudiger completed his f’ree transfer from Chelsea to Real Ma’drid earlier this month and has bee’n welcomed to the Spanish giants by Brazili’an legend Ronaldo.


Antonio Rudiger admitted he’ was “very nervous” when his “idol” R’onaldo congratulated him on his m’ove to Real Madrid.

The Germany internatio’nal, 29, has completed a free transfer to t’he Spanish capital after his Chelsea cont’ract expired this month. He’s signed a four-‘year deal with Carlo Ancelotti’s side and w”ill wear the No22 shirt, which beca’me vacant following Isco’s recent relea’se.


Rudiger boasts a fine CV. H’e won the Champions League, Europa Le’ague, FA Cup, Club World Cup and UEFA Supe’r Cup during his five-year spell at St’amford Bridge. The Blues also reached th’ree more FA Cup finals and the EFL Cu’p final twice during that time.


Despite this, Rudiger was still ne’rvous when he spoke to Ronaldo for’ the first time. The Brazilian icon is one of the g’reatest footballers of all time, winnin’g 13 trophies at club level and the World Cup ‘twice. He also received the Ballon d’Or in’ 1997 and 2002.


Ronaldo enjoyed a prolific fo’ur-and-a-half-year spell at Real between 2002′ and 2007, scoring 104 goals in 177 games. H’e produced some magical mom’ents during that, including a famous Champi’ons League hat-trick against Manchester United in’ 2003.

As such, it’s unsurprising that Ru’diger holds Ronaldo in such high regard. “‘Ronaldo played the [World Cup] final a’gainst Germany in 2002 with a very c’haracteristic haircut,” the centre-back ‘told Real’s website at his unveiling earl’ier this week.
